Cheryl Asher

Cheryl Asher, age 55, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 after a battle with cancer. No services will be held at this time. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston assisted with the arrangements and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Cheryl spent her youth in East Holland, IL, and Shell Lake, WI, before moving to Minnesota as an adult. Cheryl was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. Quite possibly the only thing she loved more than the Twins was her son Jason, whom she was devoted to throughout her life. Her many other interests included Garrison Keillor, knitting, crafting, reading, the Dick Van Dyke show, and Jon Stewart of the Daily Show. She appreciated a wide range of music, such as Joe Cocker, James Taylor, Vince Gill, Styx, Donny Osmond, and many other artists. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. Her laughter still resounds in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Cheryl had a deep sense of caring for others, as was evidenced by her career in nursing. She worked for many years at the Pioneer Care Center in Erskine, MN, as well as at RiverView Health in Crookston, MN. Her caring nature and love of knowledge will continue after her death, as she donated her body to the University of Minnesota for medical research.Cheryl leaves behind her son Jason (Jessica) Ruhl of Madison, WI; her special friend and former husband Lynn Asher of McIntosh, MN; best friend Julaine Simpson of Albert Lea, MN; brother Richard (Judy) Ruhl of Rosemount, MN; sisters Susan (Joe DiFiore) Ruhl of Chicago, IL; and Kathy Kooy of Concho, AZ. She deeply loved her many nieces and nephews, and was a honorary grandmother to her grandnieces and grandnephew.Cheryl was preceded in death by her beloved younger brother David Ruhl of Menomonie, WI, and her parents Robert and Ann Ruhl of Shell Lake, WI.
