Charles Marvin Rose was born to Peder & Hilda (Halla) Rose on December 4th, 1941 in Fosston, MN. Charles was raised in Fosston graduating from the Fosston High School in 1959. Charles milked cows and/or worked on the Rose family farm his entire life also working for other farmers as well as Landsverk Dairy for 17years before retiring. Charles met Elzora "Ellie" Erno on a blind date and after a time of dating they were united in marriage on July 24th, 1993. Charles was an only child and had no children of his own but, he made a wonderful step-dad and grandpa to Ellie's six children from a previous marriage and their families. Charles's parents were members of Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston so it seemed natural that Charles too was a member most all of his life and they were a second family to Charles & Ellie.

Charles had been a hard worker all of his life who loved farming and tractors and seemed to have a natural talent for them both, keeping a small collection of John Deer Tractor toys, memorabilia, calendars, pictures, and articles to enjoy in his retirement. He would read any and everything about farming of any kind. Charles was a soft spoken extremely intelligent, humble and kind man and the family is sure everyone loved Charles. Charles also enjoyed the many family celebrations together and trips that took place over the years.

Charles lived on the Rose Family farm and in the same house for 75 years. After his wife Ellie's passing and due to his own health needs, he decided it was time to sale the farm and move to town moving into Essentia Assisted Living Center in Fosston in the late fall of 2017. Charles enjoyed his time at Essentia Assisted Living Center telling his family that the food was "pretty good" and he also enjoyed the many adventurous outings they went on. Charles even began exploring painting, which he did a pretty good job of especially for never painting anything more than an old barn before. He also enjoyed playing cards and dice games or Bingo with family and friends. Although, according to family, he could get quite competitive and aggressive in some of these games, which was a side of Charles you rarely witnessed and it made for some hilarious family times and memories. As often happens Charles' health and ability to be independent eventually declined and he was moved to Essentia Nursing Home Facility where he lived until his passing Oct 25th, 2022. Charles will be so very dearly missed.

Charles is survived by his step-sons Roy Lee (Fay) Erno and their children, Samantha Tatman and Rachel Ostil; Harold "Ray" (Madora) Erno and their children, Jason (Jacque) Erickson, Brandi (Derick) Knutson, Clinton Erickson, Annebelle (Nathan) Davies, Nicole Pula, Justin (Niki) Herdina, Dustin Erno, David Erno; and other grandchildren, Sonny Erno, Dusty Erno, Nikki Erno and Kelly Erno; also 25 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Peder and Hilda Rose; wife Ellie Rose; step-sons Robert Erno, Billy Erno, James Erno, and Tommy Erno.
