Charles Naastad, age 64, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Sunday (March 21st) at his home in Fosston. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday (March 27th) at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. John Dalen officiating. Interment will be in Kingo Lutheran Cemetery. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Flag presentation will be provided by the Spring Lake V.F.W. Post #2759 of Lengby, MN. He was raised by his parents Vernon and Charlotte Naastad in St. Paul, Minnesota until the family moved to Fosston, Minnesota in the early 1960's. He went to the Fosston School until he enlisted in the United States Army on July 22, 1964. He was stationed in Korea until he received his honorable discharge on May 4, 1966.He then met Mary and had three children, Jimmy, Charles, Jr. and Vance. He had one daughter, Erin, with his wife, Colleen.He worked several jobs in his lifetime. He was employed as a factory worker, bartender at Beaver Lounge for nine years, carpenter and cement worker, and also worked for the railroad. He lived in St. Paul until 2005 when his father became ill and then he moved to Fosston.He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He also loved playing Canasta with his family. Charles passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at his home in Fosston at the age of 64 years.He will be lovingly remembered by his four children, Jimmy (Kim) Naastad of St. Paul, MN, Charles Naastad, Jr. (Sarah) of Vesper, WI, Vance (Patty) Naastad of St. Paul, MN, and Erin of St. Paul, MN; seven grandchildren, Amy, April, Haley, Christina, Chucky, Ashley, and Domanic; and one great grandchild, Antonio.Also surviving are two brothers, Ron (Peggy) Naastad of Fosston, and Loren (Shaunesi) Naastad of Reno, NV; two sisters, Jean Naastad of Clearbrook, MN, and Sharon (Larry) Trandem of Fosston; several nieces and nephews, two aunts and one uncle.He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Charlotte Naastad; one sister, Susan Agnes; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.Honorary Pallbearers will be David Myklejord, Duane Myklejord, Scott Wynne, Jim Goldsmith, John Goldsmith, Ron Morlock, John Fisher, and Gary Wortman.
