Catherine Senger

Catherine Senger, age 93, of Fosston, MN and formerly of Gully, MN, passed away on Monday, May 28th, at McIntosh Senior Living in McIntosh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2nd, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston with Father JohnMelkies Suvakeen presiding. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 5:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday, June 1st, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinfuneral.com. Catherine Schiele was born on February 14, 1925 in Devils Lake, North Dakota to parents John and Regina Burchard Schiele. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. She grew up near Devils Lake, attended country school and Devils Lake High School. During and following school, she helped on the farm and house while her brothers were in the service during the War years.She was united in marriage to Wendelin Henry Senger on October 2, 1945. After their marriage, they lived in North Dakota until 1949 when they moved to Olga, Minnesota. Together, with Fred and Jennie Bertsch, they operated the Olga Store and Locker Plant. Cathy and Wendt eventually took over ownership of the store, operating it until its closing. As the store slowed down, Cathy worked as a bookkeeper at the elevator in Gully. In 1972 they moved into Gully where Wendt was the Postmaster and Cathy stayed home and cared for their home and family. Wendelin passed away on February 2, 2004.Catherine moved to the Summerfield Apartments in Fosston in 2010 and then Prairie Pines Assisted Living. She has been a resident of McIntosh Senior Living since 2016. She loved visiting over coffee, baking bread and treats for her family and dancing with her husband. She was known by many for her great smile and sweet personality. She had a deep devotion to the Lord and never missed Mass until the later years when she could no longer get there. She loved her husband and family fiercely and pulled out all the stops on Christmas and other holidays to make it a great time for everyone. She and Wendt loved entertaining friends and family and there was always a fun time to be had at their place. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston, the Gully American Legion and Trail V.F.W. Auxiliaries. Catherine passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at McIntosh Senior Living at the age of 93 years.Survivors include four children, Duane (Mary) Senger of Olivia, MN, Bob (Joan) Senger of Gonvick, MN, Jeanie (Larry) Sorenson of Gonvick, MN, and Doreen Brovold of Gully, MN (friend, Brian Beckstrand); grandchildren, Michelle (Travis) Dvorak, Mike Senger, Matt (Angie) Senger, Amy Senger, Ryan Senger, Cory (Debbie) Moy, Jeremy (Connie) Moy, and Sarah (Lucas) Bjerklie; great grandchildren, Austin and Allison Dvorak, Ben Senger, Blake Senger, Ryan Nelson, Kate and Cameron Moy, Abbigail Moy and Shay and Abel Bjerklie; great great granddaughter, Stella Nelson; sister-in-law, Ann Shiele of Devils Lake, ND and other relatives also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendt; her parents; one son, Larry Senger; son-in-law, Gay Brovold; grandson, Ross Senger; and ten siblings.
