Caroline Rendahl

Caroline Rendahl, age 90, from Fosston, MN passed away on Saturday, November 19th at Essentia Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 23rd at 3:00 PM at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with Rev. John Dalen officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston, and there will also be reviewal for one hour before the funeral at the church. Interment will be at Kingo Lutheran Cemetery in Fosston, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Caroline Erickson was born on October 24, 1921 to parents Edward and Margit (Nereson) Erickson in Equality Township, rural Oklee, MN.Caroline was united in marriage to Orlien Rendahl on October 23, 1943. They farmed in Hickory Township, north of Gully, MN until they moved to Fosston, MN in 1967. She has lived at Cornerstone Residence in Fosston since 2009.Caroline was a mother, farmwife, worked at the Oklee Post Office, the co-op grocery store in Gully and at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Clearbrook. In 1966, she went to LPN training in Thief River Falls and then worked as a nurse at the Fosston Hospital, The Fosston Municipal Nursing Home, Pine to Prairie Home Health Care, and the Fosston Clinic.She enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, sewing, cooking, and visiting. Sewing and quilting were a big part of her life. She made quilts for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren when they were born and again when they graduated from high school. She was a member at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston and was involved in church activities. She and Orlien were members of the Oklee Fiddlers old time music band and played for many events. She loved to make treats and coffee for her friends and family when they came to visit her at home and at Cornerstone Residence. She loved to visit and was interested in everyone.On Saturday, November 19, 2011 Caroline passed away at Essentia Hospital in Fosston at the age of 90 years.She is survived by her children, Judy (Allen) Potvin of Fosston, Don (Mary) Rindahl of Bemidji, Joel (Jackie) Rendahl of Gully, and Joyce (Rick) Hoff of Bemidji; grandchildren, Kari (Todd) Swanson of Fosston, Krista (Mitch) Bernstein of Oklee, Scott (Bonnie) Rindahl of Eagan, Jennifer (Joe) Dolalie of Fargo, Lance (Natalie) Potvin of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Jamie (Chris) Aune of Grygla, Matt (Desi) Rendahl of Fosston, Bryan (Sarah) Goldsmith of Osseo, Sean Goldsmith of Bemidji, and Michael Rendahl of Bemidji; step grandsons, Chris (Erin) Hoff of Moorhead, Ben (Mandi) Hoff of East Grand Forks, Danny Hoff of Bemidji, and Brad Hoff of Bemidji; several great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Hanson of Clearbrook; and sister-in-law, Shirley (Allen) Carver of McIntosh.She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Margit Erickson; her husband, Orlien; sisters, Laura Erickson, Annie Vake, Selma Larson, and Hannah Vake; and several nieces and nephews.
