Carol Voxland, age 64, of Erskine, MN passed away on Friday, October 12th at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 19th at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine with Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 18th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Erskine, and there will also be visitation for one hour before the funeral at the church on Friday. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, rural Erskine at a later date, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine is in charge of the arrangements.Carol Marie Voxland was the last child born to Tina (Morgan) Voxland and Carl Arnold Voxland. Carol was born December 25, 1947 in Fosston, Polk County, Minnesota, with the same birthday as her grandfather, Walter Morgan. She was baptized in Gosen Lutheran Church near Winger, Minnesota and confirmed in Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine, Minnesota. She grew up in the Erskine area and attended school in Erskine through the sophomore year, and took piano lessons from Lillian Talge. She attended Hillcrest Academy in Fergus Falls for her junior and senior year and she graduated in 1965. During her high school years she was active in band, chorus, piano, Girl Scouts, Future Homemakers of America and 4H. After graduation from high school, she attended and graduated from Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis, MN. Carol moved to California in the late 1960's and attended Sacramento Junior College and UC Davis. Then she began working for the California State Department of Transportation (Caltrans) in 1972, in computer systems related positions and retired in 2006. She enjoyed nature and made a number of hiking, backpacking, and mountain climbing trips with brothers and friends. Carol enjoyed traveling including cross country road trips with sightseeing and hiking stopovers, long rail journeys across Canada, U. S. and other countries and many cruises; transatlantic, Pacific and Caribbean, European and Mediterranean. Her hobbies included stitchery (counted cross-stitch and needlepoint), reading, gardening and playing the piano. In addition she renovated the family farm house with the help of her brothers. Carol took stained glass classes and made a window for the farm house. She is a member of the Viking Sisters, the Sons of Norway and the African Violet Society. Carol passed away on October 12, 2012 at her residence near Erskine at the age of 64 years, nine months, and 17 days. She is survived by brothers, Orville (Hilma), Ray (Joyce) and Paul of Erskine; niece, Kristine (Aaron) Quanbeck; grand nieces, Kaylen and Kallie; two aunts, Ruth Davidson and Millie Anderson of Fosston; several cousins, and numerous friends including Hilma's family, and Carol's fiancee, Jerry Ferguson. She was preceded in death by her parents; aunts, Josephine Morgan, Jessie Thompson, Marie Voxland, Josephine Voxland, and Loraine Voxland; and uncles, Homer Morgan, Bill Anderson, Glen Davidson, Lloyd Thompson, Alfred Voxland, Roy Voxland, Norman Voxland, and Herman Voxland.
