Carol Olson

Carol Olson, age 69, of Erskine, MN, passed away on Sunday, October 30th, at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 4th at 11:00 AM at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Lengby, MN with Rev. John Ragan officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston, MN, with visitation continuing for one hour before the memorial service at the church on Friday morning. Interment of cremains will be in Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lengby. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to carlinhoialmen.com. Carol Louise Johnson was born January 22, 1947 in Fosston, MN to parents Art and Mary (Jewett) Johnson. She graduated from Fosston High School in May of 1965. Carol was united in marriage to Curtis Olson in June of 1965. They moved to Minneapolis for a few years before returning to Lengby, MN and making that their home. Carol was a homemaker for many years, she also worked at the Lengby Caf and for Troneruds Vegetable Plant in Fosston seasonally. In the 1980s Carol went into CNA work and worked in several care centers in Fosston including the Johnson Rest Home and Midway Care Center. Curtis passed away in June of 1996 and Carol decided to move to Mahnomen, MN and live with her daughter and grandchildren and began working at the Mahnomen Health Center until her retirement in 2008. She was united in marriage to Jib Shimpa in May of 2007 and they made their home in Erskine, MN. On Sunday, October 30, 2016 Carol passed away at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine at the age of 69 years. Carol is survived by her husband Jib; daughter Paula (David); son Bradley (Lucy); sister Sue (Rick) Paulson; step-son Robert (Margaret) Shimpa; step-daughters Renae (Dan) Sistad, Julie Gund and Joy Shimpa-Krenke; nephews Adam (Andrea) Paulson, Jeff Solberg, Kevin Solberg, Sidney Olson and Troy Olson; nieces Lindsay Paulson, Joni Twito, Darla Olson, Andrea Tangen, Theresa Tangen and Wendy Howell; five grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and nine step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Olson; her parents Art and Mary Johnson; her sister Sharon Johnson; and nephew Todd Olson. Blessed be her memory
