Calvin Skeie, age 72, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Wednesday, December 23rd, at McIntosh Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30th, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Gordon Syverson officiating. Because of attendance restrictions, the funeral service will be for only family to attend.There will be, however, a walk-through visitation for the public from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Our Savior's Church. The public is also invited to attend the graveside service and military honors after the funeral at Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery in McIntosh (approximately 11:45 a.m.). Mask use is required. Military honors will be provided by the Fengestad-Solie American Legion Post #200 of Winger and National Guard Honors Team. Arrangements are with Carlin Family Funeral Service of McIntosh Messages of condolence may be shared at www.carlinfuneral.com.Calvin LeRoy Skeie was born on June 11, 1948 in Crookston, Minnesota to Maynard and Doris (Mitchell) Skeie. He was baptized and confirmed at the Winger (Calvary) Lutheran Church. He attended Winger Elementary School through the eighth grade, then went to McIntosh High School and graduated in 1966.He was drafted into the United States Army in February 1968. He was stationed at various bases in the United States and served as a cook and kitchen supervisor. After an honorable discharge, Calvin joined the National Guard serving in the "Bearcats" Second Battalion (Mech) 136th Infantry, retiring in 1994. He was also a lifetime member of the Winger American Legion.Calvin was united in marriage to Donna Eraker on June 14, 1969 at Winger (Calvary) Lutheran Church. They lived and raised their daughters in McIntosh. Calvin worked for Red Lake Falls Manufacturing for a short time, and then was hired by the McIntosh/Winger School District as a custodian/bus driver. He then retired from the district.Calvin was an active member of Our Savior's in McIntosh serving on the board of Trustees and two terms as President of the congregation. Calvin enjoyed working and making projects in his "wood shop". One of the many projects was an altar table he made for Our Savior's Church.He loved spending time with his family and thought the world of his grandchildren, Dylan and Kalli. Calvin passed away at McIntosh Senior Living at the age of 72 years on Wednesday, December 23, 2020.Survivors include his wife, Donna, two daughters Kristi Skeie and Anita (Dean) Roy, grandchildren Dylan and Kalli Roy, all of McIntosh. Two sisters Patti Broden of Fertile, and Wanda (Bryan) Johnson of Fosston also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents Maynard and Doris, step-father, Kenneth Bratager, and in-laws Clarence and Andrea Eraker.
