Brenda Thomas, age 50, of Fosston, MN and formerly of Crookston, MN, passed away on Saturday, June 3rd, at her home surrounded by her family. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 10th, at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday, June 9th, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston. Family will also greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are pending with the Carlin Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinfuneral.com.Brenda Kay Boucher was born on December 22, 1966 in Crookston, Minnesota to parents Valerian and Lucille Amiot Boucher. She grew up in Crookston and graduated from Crookston Central High School in 1986. After high school, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston for 14 years. During this time, she also attended Thief River Falls Technical College, receiving her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1999. Brenda was united in marriage to Andrew Thomas on July 21, 2000. They lived in Crookston where Brenda worked as an LPN at Riverview Nursing Home. They moved to Fosston in 2012. Since that time, Brenda has been caring for the residents of Essentia First Care Living Center in Fosston. In February of 2015, she was diagnosed with cancer but continued her work at Essentia until March of this year. To Brenda her job was more than just a job, it was her calling. As Jeanne Rains put it, "she was a walking servant of God." She was fiercely dedicated to her work and the people she cared for. She was the kind of person that always put others above herself. In her spare time, Brenda enjoyed gardening, quilting, knitting and made many baby blankets. She also loved nature and enjoyed anything that had to do with the outdoors. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.Survivors include her husband, Andrew, of Fosston; three children, Megan (Jasper) Blokzyl of Bemidji, MN, Joshua Thomas of Bemidji, MN, and Ashley Thomas of Grand Forks, ND; two grandchildren, Makenzie and Jameson; three brothers, Dan (Libby) Boucher of Crookston, MN, Doug Boucher of Fargo, ND, and Larry (Teena) Boucher of Fort Myers, FL. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.She was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and one sister, Tammy.Honorary Pallbearers: Carol Beiswenger, Peggy Gallagher, Anne Thomas, and Jan Fuelling.
