Bob Dorr, age 65, of Erskine, MN, passed away on Sunday, October 30th, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5th, at Rodnes Lutheran Church, rural Erskine, with the Rev. Peter Satren and Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Bob was born on January 3, 1951, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to parents Loren and Patricia (Narum) Dorr. He was baptized and confirmed at Rodnes Lutheran Church, rural Erskine. He attended school in Erskine and graduated from Erskine High School in 1969.Bob attended Jr. College in Thief River Falls. He married Pam Berg of McIntosh in 1971. Later he attended an airlines school in St. Louis, Missouri, and then worked for Ozark Airlines in Kansas City, Missouri. He was later employed by Vic Geiger of Terrill, Texas, installing communications systems in hospitals all over the United States. Bob later moved to Memphis, Tennessee, working for the same company as manager of the area. Following that he worked for Ken Moran of Erskine doing electrical work for about two years. He then returned to Texas and worked for Vic Geiger for several years. Bob returned to Erskine in 1998 and worked for an electrical company in Bemidji. He then was a partner in B&D Construction until he was forced to retire in 2016 as a result of his illness. He was united in marriage to Peggy Osland Mayer on December 23, 1979, at Rodnes, and together they had one daughter, Tonya. Bob was a huge sports fan. He especially loved playing football in high school and also played basketball and baseball and enjoyed watching sports on TV. He had great memories of a sports trip to New York City and Baltimore in 2008 with is nephew, Garrett Nornes, and his brother-in-law, Roger Moe. They went to a baseball game at Camden Yards in Baltimore, and the highlight was going to old Yankee Stadium and watching the Yankees and Twins play. Bob treasured each moment he spent with family and friends. He was so proud of his daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Damon, and his grandsons, Colton and Levi, and loved the times he could spend with them. Bob will be remembered as a kind, soft spoken, loving, and extremely hard working man. He had a great sense of humor, treated people with respect, and never said no to a request for help. He also loved his dog, Betty, who went almost everywhere with him, and listening to classic rock music. Bob passed away at his home on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at the age of 65 years. Bob is survived by his daughter, Tonya (Damon) Slaikeu and two grandsons, Colton and Levi, of Cottage Grove, MN; his step daughter, Trisha Mayer, and her children, Bodi and Ivy, of Vergas, MN; his mother, Pat Dorr of Erskine; three sisters, Paulette (Roger) Moe of Erskine, Kathy Nornes of McIntosh, and Teri Newman of Eden Prairie, MN; and friend Loretta Hawley. Nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Petra and Alfred Dorr and Belinda and Clarence Narum; and his father, Loren Dorr.
