Bill Aaland, age 59 of Fosston, MN passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 2nd at his home near Fosston. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7th, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston with Father Manny Sundaram presiding. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6th, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service and for one hour prior to the service on Friday, all at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.William "Bill" Aaland was born on August 8, 1955, the son of Norman and Phyllis (Werner) Aaland, in Langdon, North Dakota. He grew up and attended school in Larimore, North Dakota and went on to attend Mayville State College. Bill married Carol Steffan in 1977. They moved to Carrington, North Dakota where Bill taught school. In 1985 he went back to pursue a degree in physical therapy at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. He worked in Aberdeen, South Dakota and in 1992 they moved to Fosston, Minnesota where they continued to raise their family. Bill worked as a physical therapist for 24 years and loved working with his clients.Although Bill had MS, he remained active, playing golf, fishing, and helping others whenever he could. He took great pride in his home by the lake and loved working outdoors. He loved making others laugh and was known for his jokes and magic tricks.On Sunday, November 2, 2014 Bill passed away unexpectedly at his home near Fosston at the age of 59 years.Bill is survived by his wife, Carol of Fosston; four children, Alisa Aaland (Josh Sagvold) of Sheldon, ND, Brian Aaland (Melissa Green) of Fargo, ND, Crystal Aaland of West Fargo, ND, and Michelle Aaland (Matt Kimball) of Watford City, ND; three grandchildren, Aubrey Aaland, Lexi Aaland and Charlie Ann Aaland, all of Sheldon, ND; sister, Christine (Gerald) Steffan; brothers, David Aaland, Harold (Lea) Aaland, and Mark (Pam) Aaland; many nieces and nephews; aunt Gen Klein; and uncle, Carl (Delores) Aaland.Bill was preceded in death by his parents and numerous aunts and uncles."Come, you who are blessed by my Father.
