Betty Ophus

Betty Ophus, age 73, of Apple Valley, MN, passed away on Wednesday, July 21st, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29th, at Mamre Cemetery, rural Fosston with Pastor Seth Johnson officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at Bethel Assembly Church in Fosston. Betty Ophus was born on January 15, 1948 in Ortonville, MN, to Earl Jones and Thelma Jones. Betty graduated Ortonville High School and went on to study business.

Betty married Virgil Ophus on July 2, 1971 in Ortonville, MN. The couple had 3 children, Timothy Ophus, Paul Ophus, and Andrew Ophus. They then moved to Apple Valley, MN and raised their family. Betty enjoyed traveling and seeing new things with her family. Throughout their years together they had visited 47 states and made lots of wonderful memories. Betty was best known for extreme kindness and caring for others.

Betty is survived by her husband Virgil Ophus, her three sons- Timothy Ophus (Jen), Paul Ophus (Nancy), and Andrew Ophus and 4 grandchildren- Haylee Weaver, Paige Ophus, Karly Ophus, and Evan Ophus. Also survived by her 2 sisters- Eva Raasch (Garrett Raasch) Shirley Smith and brother-in-laws Doug Ophus, Dwayne Ophus, and sister-in-law Joan Ophus.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents Earl and Thelma Jones, mother and father-in law Ray and Ruth Ophus, as well as Eugene Smith, Maxine Ophus, and James Ophus.
