Betty Jeffrey, age 84, of Fosston, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20th, at her home in Fosston with her family by her side. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27th, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston with the Rev. Jane Ekholm officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Betty Jane Hagle was born on May 9, 1938, in Cooperstown, North Dakota to parents Andrew and Helen (Lantis) Hagle. She grew up in Cooperstown and graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1957. She lived in Fargo for a short time before moving to Grand Forks where she met her future husband, Bill.
Betty was united in marriage to William Joseph Jeffrey on October 3, 1970. Together they raised a family of five children, Barbara, Becky, Craig, Tom, and Penny. The family lived in East Grand Forks and Betty managed a trailer park there for over 10 years. She also attended Jack’s Hairstyling School and did hairstyling work in Grand Forks.
After selling their home in East Grand Forks, they moved to their lake home on Island Lake near Lengby, Minnesota. In 2000, they moved to Fosston to be closer to medical care where they have resided since that time.
Betty was an avid bowler for many years. She also enjoyed crocheting, making many baby blankets. Many blankets were also donated for Missions overseas. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her loving husband of 51 years, Bill, of Fosston; five children, Barbara Bennett of Detroit Lakes, MN, Becky (Rick) Fore of East Grand Forks, MN, Craig (Tracey) Jeffrey of Charlotte, NC, Tom Jeffrey of Bismarck, ND, and Penny (Rod) Bolstad of Hillsboro, ND; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Phyllis and Lillian; one brother, Andrew; and an infant daughter, Mary Lou.
