Beryl Fritz, age 84, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Saturday, June 25th, at McIntosh Senior Living. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fosston, MN with Rev. Alan Arneson officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church on Friday morning. Interment will be held at a later date at Mt. Carmel Free Lutheran Cemetery in McIntosh. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to carlinhoialmen.com.Beryl Christine Poppler was born September 16, 1931, to Michael and Blanche (Dunning) Poppler, in Mahnomen County south of Lengby, MN. She attended country school through the eighth grade.She met Bill Fritz in Reynolds, ND while harvesting potatoes, and they were married in 1948. While Bill was working on the ore docks in 1951, a daughter was born in Duluth, MN. They moved to the Lengby area and brought home five sons in the next six years, all born in Bagley, MN.Beryl worked the potato harvest every fall and also worked at the potato plant in Fosston, MN. She was working at Rodvik's Nursing Home when the family moved to McIntosh, MN in 1965. Her next employer was Mac Manor, and she was working there when they moved to the new facility on the north edge of McIntosh. It eventually became McIntosh Senior Living, her home at the time of her death.In McIntosh, she taught release time for a number of years. After she moved to Brooks, MN she became "Grandma" to many at the Plummer Rec Center. She loved working with the young people as much as they loved her.In the summer of 2007 she moved to Poplar Meadows in McIntosh. After breaking her hip, she became a resident at McIntosh Senior Living where she once worked and wore many different hats.She loved to crochet and knit, made many quilts and afghans, and enjoyed many other crafts. She was an avid reader, and her Bible was her favorite. On Saturday, June 25, 2016, Beryl Fritz passed away at McIntosh Senior Living in McIntosh, MN at the age of 84 years.She is survived by her daughter Beverly Aakhus (friend Dennis Linder) of Plummer, MN; sons Bill Fritz, Jr. (Valerie) of McIntosh, MN, Bob Fritz (Dee Dee) of McIntosh, MN, Brent "Bud" Fritz of West Fargo, ND, R. John Fritz of St. Paul, MN, and Paul Aakhus (Laura Evans) of Erskine, MN. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Helen Poppler of Bagley, MN; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.Preceding her in death are her son Bruce Fritz, on November 25, 2014; granddaughter Julie Fritz, in 1997; her parents Michael and Blanche Poppler; brothers Jesse Poppler, Fred Poppler, Glen Poppler, and Dean Poppler; and sisters Ellen Brustad, Margaret Stone, Catherine Danielson, and Jean Tollefson.Blessed be her memory
