Bernice Tuenge, age 88, of Minneapolis and formerly from Erskine, MN passed away on Sunday, July 17th at Mount Olivet Home in Minneapolis. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (July 23rd) at Saron Lutheran Church, rural Erskine, with the Rev. Alan Arneson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Mildred Bernice Klier was born on August 10, 1922 on a farm near Bisbee, North Dakota to parents Peter and Clara (Loehlien) Klier. She attended school in Perth, North Dakota. On March 17, 1942, she married Elmer Tuenge in Waynesville, Missouri. They moved to Seattle WA that same year, where she worked for the Boeing Aircraft Co. during the war years. They moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in the fall of 1945 where she worked at the Morrel Packing Co. In December of 1946, they moved to Erskine, MN where she worked 5 years at the Win-E-Mac motel, then 30+ years at Johnson's Rest Home. She was a member of the Saron Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid where she held several offices.After Elmer passed away in 2003, she spent winters in Florida with her son & daughter-in-law, Alan & Michelle, and spent summers in Minneapolis with her daughter & son-in-law, Linda & Mike. In 2009, she became a resident at Mount Olivet Home in Minneapolis, a semi-independent care facility.Bernice passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Mount Olivet Home, with family by her side, at the age of 88 years. She is survived by children: Susan (Pat) Corbin of Rapid City, SD, Alan (Michelle) Tuenge of Cooper City, FL, Gary (Sharon) Tuenge of Erskine, MN, and Linda (Mike) Ellison of Minneapolis, MN, 5 grandchildren: Tracy (Brandon Gill) Tuenge, Catherine (Scott) Smith, Rachel, Jessie, & Ryan Ellison, 3 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Elmer, her parents, Peter and Clara Klier, her stepmother, Alma Malmin, brothers Eugene and Maynard Klier, and one grandchild, Kelly Audra Tuenge.
