Bernice Hilliard, age 81, of Lengby, MN, passed away on Tuesday (January 12th) at the Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji, MN. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday (January 15th) at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Lengby with Scott Morey officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Thursday (January 14th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Linda Bernice Hemry was born on October 13, 1928 in Columbia Township, rural Lengby, Minnesota to parents Martin and Ester (Bergland) Hemry. She grew up on the home place and attended rural school at the Maple Hill School.Bernice was united in marriage to Lester Douglas Hilliard on July 26, 1949 in McIntosh, Minnesota. After their marriage, they resided in Wyoming, Washington, and Alaska. They returned to Lengby in 1954 to farm and raise a family. Lester and Bernice spent the majority of their lives in the Lengby area. Bernice has been a resident of Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji, Minnesota since November of 2006.She was a member of Fridhem Lutheran Church in Lengby.Bernice passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the Havenwood Care Center at the age of 81 years and three months.Left to mourn her passing are seven children, Sandra Hilliard of Bemidji, MN, Denice (Alan) Chaney of Lewistown, MT, Mitch (Edie) Hilliard of Lengby, MN, Gail (Merv) Siroky of Lewistown, MT, Jean Vig of Cambridge, MN, Wes Hilliard of Lengby, MN, and Darrell (Jill) Hilliard of New Richmond, WI. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002; her parents; one brother and six sisters.Pallbearers will be James Rudh, Karson Otness, Brian Ohren, Chris Mueller, Don Dyrdahl, and Earl Hilliard.
