Arthur Ramse, age 102, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Wednesday (June 16th) at First Care Hospital in Fosston, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday (June 22nd) at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with Pastor Ryan Rasmussen officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, rural McIntosh. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Monday (June 21st) at the McIntosh Community Center. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Arthur Martin Ramse was born on May 23, 1908 in Knute Township, rural Erskine, Minnesota to parents Ole and Sigrid (Ostenaa) Ramse. At an early age, he moved with his family to a farm in Lessor Township, north of McIntosh, Minnesota. With his brothers and sisters and three foster siblings, Art attended the Ramse School #189 near their farm. He graduated from the Crookston Agricultural College in Crookston, Minnesota in 1926. Following school, he had the opportunity to be a milk tester but chose to work with his dad on the farm.During this time, Art spent his winters in Minneapolis attending the Lutheran Bible Institute. It was here where he met the love of his life, Elmyra Petersen. They were united in marriage on September 6, 1941 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stone Bank, Wisconsin. Following their marriage, they returned to the home farm. In June of 1956, they received a call to the Tokio Indian Mission in Tokio, North Dakota providing ministry to minorities. In the fall of 1978, they returned to McIntosh where they spent many happy years.Art was one of the youngest members of the Red River Inner Mission Society-lay people visiting and preaching in many area churches. He was in a gospel singing quartet and sang in many churches and special events throughout the years. He was lay pastor at Vernes Lutheran Church north of McIntosh in the early 1950's and during the 1980's and early 1990's, he served Saron Lutheran Church of rural Erskine and the Pioneer Memorial Care Center. Elmyra passed away on December 10, 2008 after 67 years of marriage.He was currently a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh. In his younger years, Art was instrumental in starting Sunday school activities at Trinity Lutheran Church near McIntosh. He made wood turning lathes for many years and enjoyed reading. He also loved spending time with family and friends. Art's life was dedicated to service and spreading the gospel message of Jesus Christ. His last statement from this earth was "I have to go and see Jesus. It's all bought and paid for."Art went home to join his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at First Care Hospital in Fosston at the age of 102 years.Survivors include three sons, Ben of McIntosh, Paul (Shirley) of Watertown, SD, and David (Miriam) of Arusha, Tanzania and McIntosh; six grandchildren, Karen, Nathan, Daniel, Joshua, Kayla, and Jonathan.He was preceded in death by his wife, Elmyra; parents; brothers, Ole, John, and infant brother, George; and sisters, Thora and Christine.
