Arthur "Art" Nelson, age 92, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Sunday (July 19th) at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday (July 24th) at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Fosston, with the Rev. Dr. Gerald White officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Thursday (July 23rd) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Arthur Joseph Nelson was born on August 7, 1917 on the family farm in Eden Township, rural Fosston, Minnesota the son of Hartvig and Augusta (Wick) Nelson. He attended rural school and spent his lifetime farming.Art married Thelma Nystuen on June 18, 1946. They lived and farmed in the Fosston area for 63 years. Thelma passed away on July 22, 2001.Art was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in 1931 where he was a lifelong active member and served the church in many capacities. For many years, he served on the Gully Co-op Board, the Gully Credit Union Board and was supervisor of the Eden Township Board. He also served as fire warden for a number of years.He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.On Sunday, July 19, 2009 Arthur Joseph Nelson passed away at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN at the age of 92 years.Survivors include one daughter, Denise Snyder of Savage, MN; four grandchildren, John and Matthew Snyder of Savage, Jennifer (Chris) Thorp of Chanhassen, MN and Kristen Nelson of Eden Prairie, MN; one great grandson, Alexander Thorp of Chanhassen; and one sister, Helen Danielson of Fosston.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thelma; two sons, Richard Nelson and Steven Nelson; one brother, Nels; and one sister, Margaret Fruendt.
