Arnold Strand

Arnold Strand, age 81, of Wahpeton, ND and formerly of Mentor, MN, passed away on Wednesday, January 17th, at his home. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25th, at Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor with the Rev. Michael Sletto officiating. Interment will be in Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Mentor, in the spring. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Arnold Roy Strand was born December 5, 1936 in rural Mentor, Minnesota to Rugner and Gladys (Stoddard) Strand. Arnold grew up and attended school in Mentor. As a member of Faith Lutheran Church, he attended Sunday school. Growing up, he enjoyed riding bicycle, taking long walks, and hunting. Later, he worked in Crookston, Minnesota at ODC and helped with chores on the farm. In May 2012, he moved to Wahpeton, North Dakota to stay with his sister Norma and brother-in-law Arvid Olson. Some of his hobbies included keeping up on boxing and wrestling and watching western movies.Arnold is survived by his sister Norma Olson, aunt Betty Strand, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents Rugner and Gladys Strand; brother Ronald Strand; sister Luella "Tootsie" Brule; brothers-in-law Donald "Bud" Brule and Arvid Olson.
