Arlene Thompson, age 82, of Trail, MN, passed away on Monday (October 24th) at First Care Living Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday (October 29th) at Vernes Lutheran Church, rural McIntosh with Pastor Ryan Rasmussen officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, rural McIntosh. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday (October 28th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Arlene Bush was born on May 30, 1929 in Washington County, Indiana the daughter of Jesse and Flavia (Wesner) Bush. She was baptized at Prowsville Christian Church. She graduated from high school in Salem, Indiana in 1948. She worked in Indianapolis where she met and married Roy Thompson on July 27, 1951. The lived there for a short time before they moved to Hill River Township in 1952 where they farmed and raised dairy cattle. Roy passed away on October 4, 1995.Arlene was a member of the Vernes Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid, the Eden Homemaker's Club, Gonvick American Legion Auxiliary and was a past leader for the Hill River Jolly Worker's 4-H Club. She enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, tending a large vegetable garden and flower gardening. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.Arlene was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a thoughtful and warm person who started each day cheerfully and with a smile. She will be dearly missed.Arlene passed away with her family at her side on Monday, October 24, 2011 at First Care Living Center in Fosston at the age of 82.Survivors include her children, John (Kara) Thompson of Valley City, ND, Deb (Rich) Gorman of Mountain Home, ID, Scot (Jodi) Thompson of Trail, MN, Dean Thompson of Brooks, MN, and David Thompson of Trail, MN; ten grandchildren-Robert (Carrie) Thompson, Bryan (Stephanie) Thompson, Laura (Luke) Ermer, Lisa Gorman, Krista Gorman, Tyler Thompson, Christopher Thompson, Alexander Thompson, Jacob Thompson, and Halie Thompson. Two great grandchildren, Mya and Chloe Thompson; one sister, Ruby Rathbun of Harpers Ferry, IA; brothers-in-law, Orlin Thompson of McIntosh, MN, Don (Fern) Thompson of Edmonds, WA, and Jr Nice of Salem, IN; and sister-in-law, Lois McLaughlin of Mountlake Terrace, WA. Arlene is also survived by several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister, Cathy.
