Len Arden Ohren was born on June 2, 1935 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Len and Alice (Nesvold) Ohren. He was baptized and confirmed at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston and attended the Steinbrenner School in Heier Township.
Arden was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Berglund on April 23, 1960 at the Lengby Baptist Church. After their marriage, they lived south of Lengby and raised four children, Brian, Laurel, Rhonda, and Joanne.
Over the years, Arden worked for Simplot Potato, Carlson Farms, and Hemmingsen Farms. He was forced to retire in 2004 due to an automobile accident. Despite this major life event, he was able to recover from his injuries. He stayed busy at the farm with yard work and tinkering.
He was a long-time and active member of the Lengby Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon and Trustee. He and Mary were members of the Lengby Improvement Club.
Arden always had the coffee pot on and loved a good visit with family and friends. His favorite way to make coffee was with grounds directly in the water and cooked on the stovetop. He has always enjoyed nature and the outdoors. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all, Arden cherished the time that he could spend with his family and especially his grandchildren. He will be missed.
After recently suffering a stroke, Arden passed away at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston at the age of 85 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary, of Fosston; four children, Brian (Traci) Ohren of Lengby, Laurel (Matthew) Steen of Marshall, MN, Rhonda (Scott) Oien of Lengby, and Joanne (Tim) Balstad of Fosston; five grandchildren, Alissa (Joseph) Knopps, Katelyn (Edward) DeLanghe, Macey (Chase) Pehling, Matthew Balstad, and Sierra Balstad; six great grandchildren, Lennox, James, Samantha and Halle DeLanghe, Eden Pehling, and Jaxson Knopps; four brothers, Daryl (Iyelet) of Fosston, Leland (Connie) of Moorhead, MN, Doug (Jean) of Perley, MN, and Warren (Elaine) of Fosston.
