Ann Coyer

Ann Coyer, age 91, of Bagley, MN, passed away on Wednesday, July 31st, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5th, at the United Methodist Church in Erskine, MN with the Rev. Michelle Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Lengby City Cemetery, Lengby, MN. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Anna Mary Coyer was born on September 21, 1932, in rural Rice Lake, Clearwater County, Minnesota to parents John and Elsie (Portz) Ashing. She grew up in Pine Bend where she attended country school. 

Anna married Jake Coyer on October 12, 1952. Together they raised 11 children on the family farm south of Fosston. She had big vegetable and flower gardens, working hard to raise the family. Over the years, Ann was employed at JR Simplot, Mac Manor and Mahnomen Health Center as a cook prior to purchasing the Sunset Board and Lodge in Bagley in 1985. They moved to Bagley in 1986. Ann cared for community Elders and was an amazing cook and caretaker. She sold the business in 1999 and retired with Jake.

Anna loved her flower and vegetable gardens, fishing, and the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. She made trips to Vegas, Florida, Washington State, Texas and Mexico. She loved having her family around her, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters, JoAnn (Ron) Miller of Lengby, Debbie Ronning of Fosston, Pam (Merlin) Olson of Lengby, and Michelle of Bagley; sons, Robert of Fosston, Gary of Bagley, Jake Jr. (Denise) of Fosston, and Mike (Cammi) of Fridley, MN; grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one sister, Cathy Johnson of New Brighton, MN. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake, in 2014; sons, Ronald, Jeffrey, and Edwin; five brothers, three sisters, and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers (Grandsons): Jeff Olson, Aaron Olson, Cody Coyer, Marshall Coyer, Dylan Coyer, Jordan Skinaway, and Levi Coyer.

Honorary Pallbearers: All of Anna’s grandchildren and great grandchildren.
