Alvin Fladhammer

Alvin Fladhammer, age 82, of Fosston and formerly from Winger, MN passed away on Tuesday (December 30th) at First Care Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday (January 3rd) at Calvary Lutheran Church in Winger with the Rev. John Ahola and Rev. Kelly Ahola officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, Winger in the spring. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church and arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston. Messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Alvin Maynard Fladhammer was born on January 19, 1926 in Leonard, North Dakota, the son of Christ and Anna (Versdahl) Fladhammer. The family moved to the Winger area where Alvin attended school through the eighth grade. He entered the United States Navy in 1944 during World War II.He was united in marriage to Gladys Nelson on April 11, 1949 in Winger, Minnesota. The couple farmed near Winger where Alvin also worked at Espeseth Implement until 1968, when he built and operated his own mechanic shop. He also drove school bus for the Win-E-Mac school district for nearly 30 years.Alvin was happiest when spending time with his grandchildren.Alvin passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at First Care Hospital in Fosston at the age of 82 years.Alvin is survived by his wife, Gladys of Fosston; two sons, Duane Fladhammer of St. Cloud, MN and Daryl (Stephanie) Fladhammer of Wabasso, MN; grandchildren, Shane, Elizabeth, and Ally; great grandchildren, Saddie, Brooke, and Miley.He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth and Harold; and sister, Myra Gulsvig.Honorary Pallbearers will be Art Lee, Gordon Johnson, Adolph Nelson, Vincent Raaen, Delmar Espeseth, and Kenny Nelson.Active Pallbearers will be Dennis Lee, David Fladhammer, Larry Fladhammer, Mike Skiple, Kevin Fladhammer, and Wayne Johnson.
