Almor Halvorson, age 80, of Trail, MN, passed away on Sunday, January 18th, at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 26th, at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston with Pastor Dawn Hanson officiating. Interment will be in Sand Valley Lutheran Cemetery, Trail, at a later date. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Monday evening at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the National Guard Honors Team and arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston. Messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Almor LeRoy Halvorson was born on November 5, 1934 in Trail, Minnesota to parents Raymond and Ingella Berg Halvorson. After his father passed away at a young age, Almor was raised by his mother and step-father, Alf Lund. He grew up and attended school in Trail.Almor entered the United States Air Force in December of 1951. He served four years in Japan during the Korean War. He then re-enlisted and spent nearly two more years in Europe. He received his honorable discharge in March of 1956 and returned to the States. He worked various jobs in California, the oil fields in Texas, and did custom combining in Montana and North Dakota. He was mostly known as a "Jack of all trades" with the ability to build or fix about anything.After his step-father, Alf, passed away, Almor moved back to Trail to take care of his mother. Since that time, he has been a resident of Trail. Almor loved children and animals and enjoyed going to flea markets. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.Almor passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston at the age of 80 years.Survivors include his sister, Valerie (Bill) Fritz of McIntosh, MN; brother, Ronald (Colene) Halvorson of Redding, CA; sister-in-law, Sara Halvorson of Placerville, CA; and many nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father; brothers, Roger, Merrill, and Raymond; sister, Virginia Barstad; sister-in-law, Donna Halvorson; and niece, Julie Fritz.
