Alma Roy, age 102, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Thursday (July 17th) at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 25th at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston with Father Dave Super presiding. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church and interment will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in Mentor, MN. Sympathy messages may be sent to www.carlinhoialmen.com.Alma Marie Sophia Gregoire was born April 7, 1906 to parents Fedime and Philomena (Violette) Gregoire in Red Lake County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and attended country school. Her parents farmed near Red Lake Falls, Minnesota.She was united in marriage to David Roy on July 22, 1941 at St. Joseph's in Red Lake Falls. They resided and farmed near Red Lake Falls, St. Hilaire, Terrebone and Mentor, Minnesota and had one child, Raymond.Alma worked as a childcare provider for Bob and Mary Roysland in Erskine for several years and then for the Mentor School District as an assistant cook until she retired.After retirement they lived in Mentor, Erskine and then Fosston, Minnesota. Gardening, cooking, her family and her faith were her life. She loved to quilt, embroider, crochet, play cards and read. Alma thoroughly loved and enjoyed her grandchildren.On Thursday, July 17, 2008 Alma Roy passed away at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston at the age of 102 years.Survivors include one son, Raymond (Marilyn) of Bagley, MN; five grandchildren, Brian (Linda) of Wheatland, ND, Randall (Elizabeth) of Jamestown, ND, Jenifer (Timothy) Klava of New Hope, MN, Dean (Anita) of McIntosh, MN and Steven (Heidi) of Moorhead, MN; great grandchildren, Joshua Roy, Jessica (Matthew) Hulne, Kristina (Tim) Klava, Tiffany Roy, Rebecca Roy, Lindsey Roy, Tyler Klava, Rusty Roy, Brandon Roy, Matthew Klava, Mckenzie Roy, Dylan Roy, and Megan Klava; great great granddaughter, Maddison Hedlund; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband David Roy; one brother, Ovilla; and one sister, Dorothy Roy.
