Alice Warford

Alice Warford, age 96, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Sunday (August 26th) at her home in Poplar Meadows Senior Living in McIntosh. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (August 29th) at Immanuel Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Mark Peske officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church, and interment will be at a later date at St. John's Cemetery, Wood Lake, MN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Poplar Meadows Senior Living. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh, and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Alice Irene Just was born on November 20, 1915 at the family farm near Wood Lake, Minnesota to Emil and Marie (Plath) Just. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and had remained in that true faith all her life. She attended St. John's Lutheran school and Wood Lake High School, graduating in 1934. She attended cosmetology school in Minneapolis and was employed as a beautician in Willmar, MN. It was there she met and married Eugene D. Warford on November 7, 1940. The family moved to McIntosh, MN in the fall of 1947 when Mr. Warford purchased the Reese drug store. Eugene Warford died in 1971. Alice married Clifford Hanson in 1976 and they spent the next 15 years together at the lake home near Bagley, MN. She sold the lake home in 1990 and returned to McIntosh where she lived in a Senior Living apartment and for the last 27 months in Poplar Meadows. Alice was actively involved in church and community activities in McIntosh until her death on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the age of 96 years.Alice Warford is survived by her five children: Barbara (Alan) Weymouth of Lake Lure, NC; David (Carmen) Warford of Prior Lake, MN; John (Kathy) Warford of Grangeville, ID; Mary Warford of Hot Springs, SD, and Eugene William Warford of Norwalk, CT. Two brothers: Vernon (Gloria) Just of Tripp, SD; and Leslie (Ruth) Just of Detroit Lakes, MN. One sister: Elvera Just of McIntosh. Six grandchildren: Robert Thompson, Rebecca (Thompson) Waple, Melissa Ackermann, Alison Warford, Aaron Warford, and Jeremiah Bosheers, fifteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Eugene Warford and Clifford Hanson, brother Harold Just and sister Leona (Just) Hanson.She will be missed by her family and many friends.
