Alice Ringstad

Alice Ringstad, age 99, from Lengby, MN passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the Twin Valley Living Center in Twin Valley, MN. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday (July 7th) at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Lengby with Pastor Scott Morey officiating. Interment will be in Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lengby. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Alice Gunhild Olson Ringstad was born in Fosston, Minnesota on July 24, 1910 to parents Peder and Aletta (Larson) Olson. She was their only child but was raised with two of her mother's nieces whose mother died. She lived in Bagley and attended Bagley schools until she and her parents moved to Lengby in 1927. She then went to Fosston High School, graduating in 1928.While living in Lengby she worked in a general store until she married Knute Ringstad on February 28, 1935. They were married for 29 years until his death on March 23, 1964. They had five children.Alice was a member of Fridhem Lutheran Church and the Lengby Improvement Club. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, sometimes providing flowers for church services. She also enjoyed reading, puzzles, playing Scrabble, playing the piano and painting. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.Alice passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the Lutheran Memorial Home in Twin Valley, Minnesota at age of 99 years, 11 months and 6 days.She is survived by her five children, Richard (Doris) of Glasgow, MT, Calvin of Bejou, MN, Gordon (Joyce) of Lengby, MN, Wayne (Brenda) of Duluth, MN; and one daughter, Mary (Jarvis) Watnemo of Hutchinson, MN; 12 grandchildren, Sandra (Paul) Dryvestein of Missoula, MT, Steve Ringstad of Helena, MT, Rick (Tami) Ringstad of Crookston, MN, Mark Ringstad of Bagley, MN, Alison (Mike) Lacina of Red Lake Falls, MN, Rebecca (Paul) Kahlbaugh of Watertown, MN, Dennis Ringstad of Mankato, MN, Jean Marie Ringstad of Mankato, MN, Matthew Ringstad of Duluth, MN, Emily (Raj) Banarjee of St. Paul, MN, Angela Watnemo of Eagan, MN, and Elizabeth (Gustav) Wurdell of Hutchinson, MN.She is also survived by great grandchildren, Jacob, Halley and Alison Dryvestein, Derek, Chad, and Robby Ringstad, Alicia and Austyn Doty, Cali Kahlbaugh, Alex, Calin and Anneke Lacina, Aiden Dietel, Grace, Max and Miles Wurdell, Jacob, Olivia and Seth Ringstad; and four great great grandchild, Rylan, Lexi, Cameron, and Katlyn. Niece, Cathy Gutterud; and nephews, Charles Bullock and David Bullock.She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sibling cousins, Marion and Lila Stevenson; and many friends.
