Alice Gunderson, age 89, of Lengby, Minnesota passed away on Wednesday, December 20th at her home near Lengby. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday (December 26th) at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Lengby with Scott Morey officiating. Interment will be in Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lengby. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston. Online register book is available at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Alice Clarabelle Fischer was born on September 1, 1917 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to parents Oliver and Hilda (Bahr) Fischer. She completed school only to the eighth grade, yet she had dreams of one day being a teacher. Alice was united in marriage to Grant Gunderson in 1947. After their marriage, they moved to Minnesota where they raised three children, Earl, Elwood and Inez. She worked in the Post Office in Lengby. She raised sheep and chickens and she loved her chickens dearly. They were her "pets". She was a member of Fridhem Lutheran Church in Lengby and taught Sunday school for many years. She loved quilting and her family members all received one from grandma for Christmas this year.Alice had many hobbies, including crocheting, braiding rugs, making greeting cards, baking wedding cakes and cookies, and playing cards. She was president of the Lengby Homemaker's Club for 50 years until this last year as she saw it was time to slow down.Alice passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at her home near Lengby at the age of 89 years, three months and 19 days.She is survived by her three children, Earl of Rushford, MN, Elwood (Diane) of Lengby, and Inez (Donn) Haugen of Hinckley, MN; three grandchildren, Chris Harmon, Mariah Haugen and Jesse Haugen; two great grandchildren, Rachel and Zach Pratt.She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant; her parents; brother, Ervin Fischer, an infant brother and one great grandson, Alex Pratt.
