Alice Emmons, age 94, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Wednesday (March 16th) at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday (March 21st) at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Alice Olivia Frethem was born on March 21, 1916 at rural Fosston, Minnesota to parents Albert and Hellen (Gunhus) Frethem. She was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston. She graduated from Fosston High School in the class of 1933 and was a graduate of Aaker's Business College of Grand Forks, North Dakota. In 1935, she started working at Farmer's State Bank in Fosston.In 1943, Alice left for Los Angeles, California where she worked for Douglas Aircraft. In 1947 she began employment at California Bank of Los Angeles, working there for 25 years.Alice was married to Gene Emmons on March 20, 1955 at Hope Lutheran Church in Hollywood, California. In 1989 they moved to Calimesa, California. Gene passed away in 2003 and in 2004, Alice moved back to Fosston. She loved her family, friends, her pets, dogs and cats. Alice passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston at the age of 94 years, 11 months and 25 days. Survivors include her brother, Alton "Fritz" (Helen Mae) Frethem of Fosston; one nephew, Mark (Renee) Frethem of Wadena, MN; five nieces, Linda (Wes) Knutson of Crookston, MN, Sue Christen of Fosston, Marilyn (Neil) Wogsland of Menahga, MN, Carole (Tom) Cover of St. George, UT, and Mary (Dan) Salvhus of McIntosh, MN. Several grand nephews and nieces also survive.She was preceded in death by her brothers, Stanley and Glenn.
