Adelle Schleicher, age 86, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Wednesday (March 4th) at First Care Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday (March 10th) at Immanuel Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Mark Peske officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, McIntosh. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Monday (March 9th) at the McIntosh Community Center in McIntosh. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Adelle Ruth Oppegaard was born on September 17, 1922 in Knute Township, rural Erskine, Minnesota to parents Martin and Bertha (Sannes) Oppegaard. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine. Adelle attended the Oppegaard country school near her home and graduated from McIntosh High School with the class of 1940. Adelle was united in marriage to Roy Schleicher on September 6, 1941. After their marriage, Adelle and Roy lived and raised their family in McIntosh. Adelle worked as a bookkeeper and owned and operated an income tax service until her retirement in 1981. She was also a talented florist, helping at Koehler Floral in Fosston for many years during special occasions. During their retirement years, Adelle and Roy wintered in Texas where many good friends were made. Adelle was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was active in ladies' aid. She was also active in girl and boy scouts and 4-H. She loved gardening, flowers and was known as a wonderful pie baker. She always enjoyed playing piano and accompanying Roy while he played the banjo. Most of all, Adelle enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends.Adelle passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at First Care Hospital in Fosston at the age of 86 years, five months and 15 days.Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Roy of McIntosh; one son, Ray (Pat) Schleicher of Falls Church, VA; two daughters, Jean (Michael) McCabe of Coon Rapids, MN, and Fern (Jonathan) Frusti of Alexandria, VA; eight grandchildren, Dana Schleicher, Lora (John) Eskandary, Joe (Heather) Kirkeby, Jeff Kirkeby, Jennifer (Michael) Maier, Jana Kirkeby, Teresa (Craig) Gresham, and Katie Frusti; six great grandchildren, Spencer and Skylar Eskandary, Adalee and Brett Maier, Isabel Kirkeby, and Zoe Gresham.Also surviving is one brother, Duane (Marcy) Oppegaard of Michigan, ND; and one sister, Marvel Devine of Harlingen, TX; two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Schleicher of McIntosh and Gordon (Laverne) Schleicher of Bloomington, MN. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Clarence; and sister, Bernice Solberg.
