Scott Shimpa, age 47, of Erskine, MN, passed away on Monday (March 8th) at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday (March 12th) at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine with the Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, McIntosh. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Thursday (March 11th) and for one hour prior to the service on Friday, all at Grace Lutheran Church. He grew up in Crookston. He was united in marriage with Julie Stenmoen on July 17 1982. They resided the majority of their marriage in Erskine, MN. Scott worked for LePier Oil Company, Arctic Cat, and the City of Erskine. Scott had a knack for mechanics and enjoyed racing, ATVs, RC Cars and Boats, and being on the lake. He was also an active member of the Erskine Fire Department. He certainly had the gift to gab. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife and kids, and especially loved spending time with his grandkids. Scott passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 8:40 p.m. at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota at the age of 47 years. Survivors Include: His wife Julie, son Joey (Jessica) Shimpa, Daughter Tiffany (Jonathan) Omundson, son Andy (Angie) Shimpa, Grandchildren Ethan, Annika and William Shimpa, and Krista Shimpa, all of Erskine MN. Mother Marion Shimpa of McIntosh, Brother Jerry (Robin) Shimpa of McIntosh, Brother Larry (Ethel) Shimpa of Erskine, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many many friends. He was preceded in death by his Father Joe W. Shimpa, Infant Brother Joseph, Grandparents Joseph and Marie Shimpa, and Earnest and Ida Ulrich. Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott's grandchildren, nieces and nephews & members of the Erskine Fire Department.Active Pallbearers will be Rick Bjornerud, Justin Moran, Danny Osowski, Danny Ness, Robert Shimpa, Joey Smeby, Dave Bauer, and Dean Salveson.
